Top Tradesman 2012 Finalist
Release October 2012
From over 3,000 entries, Sutton electrician, Stephen Thorne,
has been crowned the top tradesman in London, and is now through to the
grand final of a competition to find the best in the country. Britain's
Top Tradesman, organised by trade retailer Screwfix, is a nationwide search
to find and recognise the brilliant builders, helpful handymen, exceptional
electricians and perfect plumbers that keep the UK's homes and businesses
in top condition.
Stephen, who trades under the name Cre8 Electricity, saw off competition from a host of other entries to win the regional final. He will now battle it out with nine other finalists from across the country to be crowned Britain's Top Tradesman 2012, and win a brand new van, worth up to £27,000 (OTR) manufactured by Renault.
Stephen was put through to the final due to his 25 years experience and commitment to helping young electricians find work by regularly offering apprenticeships and work placements where he can.
Stephen comments: "It's amazing to have made the final. Hopefully this will help to show young electricians that choosing to work in the trade and offering a professional service can have many benefits."
John Mewett, Marketing Director at Screwfix, said: "At Screwfix we meet hundreds of tradesmen every day in our trade counters and we understand how hard they work and the efforts they go to in order to get the job done to the highest standard, so it is great to be able to highlight the good work that is being done up and down the country with Britain's Top Tradesman.
"We've been overwhelmed by the response and have enjoyed hearing some
impressive stories of exceptional workmanship and great customer service
along the way. Stephen and all our finalists have demonstrated their willingness
to go the extra mile to get the job done and it was certainly no easy
task to pick the winner."
